Many Christians are asking God to grow a business they refuse to show to the world.
They pray for customers but never post.
They pray for sales but never pitch.
They pray for “divine connections” but never send a message, run an ad, or show up where their customers actually are.
This is not spiritual warfare.
This is neglect.
God cannot bless seeds you never plant.
Many believers have been taught to over‑spiritualize what is simply a lack of consistent work. Prayer is powerful, but prayer is not a replacement for obedience. And in business, obedience looks like showing up, marketing your work, and serving real people with real value.
The Bible is painfully clear about this.
“All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” (Proverbs 14:23 NIV)
Some of us are doing a lot of talking.
Talking to God.
Talking about our dreams.
Talking about “one day.”
But the profit is tied to the work, not the talk.
Here is the hard truth society avoids:
God will not do your part.
He will open doors, but He will not walk through them for you.
He will give wisdom, but He will not post your content.
He will give favor, but He will not run your ads.
If you want God to bless your business, give Him something to bless.
Think about the feeding of the five thousand (Matthew 14:13–21 NIV). Jesus multiplied what they brought Him. He did not create bread out of thin air. He multiplied what existed. That is how God works with your business. He multiplies what you actually do daily, not what you intend to do.
To effectively build and grow a successful business, you need effective, ongoing marketing. Not when you feel like it. Not when you feel inspired. Not when sales slow down or when customers are scarce. You need to commit to daily posting or running ads in ways that bring you consistent customers.
You need steady, ongoing visibility that brings in customers every day. Daily marketing. Daily clarity about who you serve and how you help them.
Take Amazon as an example. Amazon (currently) is worth $2.5 trillion, with 1.6 million employees. Yet, they still market and keep looking for ways to get more customers. Every single day.
And that’s despite the fact that pretty much everyone today knows about Amazon as a company. Yet, they still keep on marketing.
Same with Google. They’re worth $4 trillion, with 190,000 employees. Same thing. Today, they still continue to relentlessly market and look for ways to grow their business. Non-stop.
And you might be thinking, “Well, those companies can afford to do marketing because they’re big…” No!
Amazon, Google, and every other successful company you see today got big precisely because 1). They had good products and kept making the products better and greater, and…
2). More importantly, (over the years, and till today), they have been relentless and consistent in continuously marketing their products, and presenting what they sell in front of as many of their ideal customers as possible.
Marketing, and getting more customers, is the lifeblood of any business.
Think of marketing as the engine that quietly runs in your car, without which your car won’t be able to operate or function.
If you post once a month, you are giving God crumbs.
If you never market, you are giving Him nothing.
If you hide your gift, you are burying your talent.
“So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground.” (Matthew 25:25 NIV)
Fear still buries talents today.
Fear of judgment. Fear of failure.
Fear of being seen. Fear of being ignored.
Fear of not getting results, even after spending lots of time and resources.
This is where you need the right marketing strategy for your business. Ask questions. Study what works in your industry or line of business.
Look at the best practices, the common mistakes, and the patterns behind businesses that grow consistently. Learn as you go, adjust quickly, and keep showing up.
Because fear is not an excuse for disobedience or doing nothing.
Some Christians call it “waiting on God,” but it is really waiting on courage. And courage grows when you act, not when you hide.
Marketing is not unspiritual.
Marketing is stewardship, service, and obedience.
You cannot help people who do not know you exist.
You cannot serve customers who never hear from you.
You cannot grow a business you refuse to showcase.
If you want God to enlarge your territory, start by enlarging your visibility.
Post daily. Consistently.
Run ads. Consistently.
Show your work.
Tell people how you can help them.
Stop hiding behind prayer when God is calling you to action.
Here is the truth many avoid:
Consistency is more spiritual than intensity.
One emotional prayer will not replace six months of silence.
One burst of motivation will not fix a year of hiding.
One “God, please bless my business” will not override your refusal to market.
God honors steady hands.
God honors faithful work.
God honors those who show up even when they do not feel like it.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3 NIV)
Notice the order.
You do.
He establishes.
You move.
He strengthens.
You plant.
He multiplies.
If you want God to establish your business, start doing the part He will not do for you.
Action step for today:
Pick one platform where your ideal customers spend time. Post something today that clearly explains what you offer and who you help. Next, post something that genuinely helps your ideal customers, and share it freely.
No perfection. No overthinking. Just obedience. And a commitment to keep doing it consistently.
Remember this:
God multiplies informed action, not wishes.
And if you want His blessing, give Him actions to bless.
